Chinese New Year just whiz past us so quickly! We are already approaching the end of March. How time flies! March is a month which I will always look forward to. It is the variable bonus plus annual increment month! When I saw my colleagues being called to receive their letters on that Tues (9Mar), my heart was thumping so loudly. I really have no idea what I was nervous about since it isn't the first year. I guess I was hoping for something - the big P. The hope was largely a result of I-think-I-deserve-it.
Finally, in the late afternoon it was my turn. Boss passed me the letter and asked me to read. Instead of reading it first, I was anxious for my boss too cos' I really think she deserves to be promoted. Asked her about hers and she shook her head. She hid her disappointment well but I was disappointed cos' she was not. Anyway, the bonus amount didn't really matter so much to me as I had insider news that it will not be fantastic. I was more looking out for the big P.
Saw it and my heart could finally beat properly than skipping beats before that. Team mates were all outside waiting to congratulate me. Felt like they bet a lot on me, huh! Bonus was normal, better than the one I had last year cos' I only serve 5mths for last year's bonus, so couldn't really compare. In absolute amount, this is the second time I am taking this amount, so nothing to exhilarate about. Overall, I was already very happy as people could tell that from my face. Now... it's time for another 1 full year of hard work to justify for my portion of variable bonus next year.
